Sculpture #43 “Escape Mondrian, Escape” June 2023
Judy (Graves) Buckingham has been a friend for more than 65 years. She recently moved back to Reno, Nevada and built a new home. This sculpture is a gift to her for being such a great friend for so many years.
Although she majored in art she set that aside and has been creative in her culinary and
home design skills. I hope she returns to art as she was very creative. So this piece has a
Croix du Basque on the crown, part of Judy’s culture and heritage. The base is more
Mondrian but as one follows the painted pattern it opens up and allows for Mondrian to
“Escape”!!!
Oamaru stone with acrylic paint. A protective moisture and UV light varnish has been
applied.
