There are many styles of the Maori war hand weapons. This sculpture represents a patu (with a style of the Wahaiki). I incorporated a Maori design on the face and a distressed support on the back side. The “wrist holder” was of braided native flax and the attached feathers were from a harrier hawk killed by a car. The base has a Maori basket style weave.
